The USA has a long list of fairly unique examples of where the people rely on individuals to enforce laws against wrongdoing.  In USA this legal function is called qui tam.  Private citizens prosecute private companies for crimes against the people.

We have an FDA that is supposed to keep the drug companies honest, but take a look at who actually gets the job done:  private individuals.

In anarchy, who is the cop?  You are.  Here we have the private individual prosecuting wrongdoing.

Jerald Represents Hong Kong!

Hong Kong has first rate aikido, which I learned to my delight for the first time practicing while there on business circa 1978.  Hong Kong has very low tax rates, in fact most people pay no taxes whatsoever, so the city-state has fantastic funds to spread around.

One thing the lavish funds upon is sports, and they take send their best to represent Hong Kong worldwide.  Here is a young black belt, Jerald Tai, with whom I've had the pleasure of practicing with a couple of times on recent visits, in classes taught by a now-rokudan, with whom I practiced with back in the 1970s.  He will be representing Hong Kong at the World Combat Games in St. Petersburg.

If you ever get to Hong Kong, bring your gi, they have practice somewhere there seven days a week.

When Warships Gather...

Bad things happen -

On 3 July 1988, at the end of the Iran–Iraq War, the aircraft serving the flight, an Airbus A300B2-203, was shot down by SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles fired by the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes as it flew over the Strait of Hormuz. The aircraft, which had been flying in Iranian airspace over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf on its usual flight path, was destroyed. All 290 on board, including 66 children and 16 crew, perished.^[1] Ranking seventh among the deadliest disasters in aviation history, the incident retains the highest death toll of any aviation incident in the Indian Ocean and the highest death toll of any incident involving an Airbus A300 anywhere in the world.^[2] TheVincennes had entered Iranian territorial waters after one of its helicopters drew warning fire from Iranian speedboats operating within Iranian territorial limits.^[3]

Of course the Captain was awarded medals for his service.

A Day of Prayer and Fasting For Peace in Syria

The Pope calls for prayer and fasting for peace in Syria, and the American Bishops translate that into "write your congressman":

Cardinal Dolan and leaders of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops followed the Pope’s lead and wrote to every member of Congress today urging them to vote against military intervention in Syria. Yesterday the USCCB also wrote to President Obama, reminding him that the Pope and Middle Eastern Bishops “have made it clear that a military attack will be counterproductive, will exacerbate an already deadly situation, and will have unintended negative consequences.” Dolan also asked Catholics to urge their representatives in Washington to vote against a military strike.

Hey, fellas... don't forget the primary message, that the pope called for prayer and fasting.  Remember that?

How Martin Luther King Ended The American War in Vietnam

I was reading an argument by a vet who was there for the 1968 Tet offensive fighting alongside soldiers and under officers of some African heritage.   They overcome the Tet offensive.  A few months later Martin Luther King was assassinated, for having criticized the American War exactly one year earlier, on 4 Apr 1967.


This soldier's observation was after King was assassinated, the soldiers of some African heritage lost the will to fight for USA, and ultimately that turned the tide, where USA lost that war.  So for those who say "politicians lost that war" should look to the politicians who assassinated Dr. King.

But curious that...  killing King to keep the war going, ended it for the war profiteers.  King ended the war by taking a bullet for the Vietnamese.  He may not have made it to the promised land, but surely by his death he made it to Heaven.

Anti-War Vet Gets Dealt With After Protest

Protest is over, resting alone in the shade of the tree, now the hyenas swarm on a lone veteran.  Notice how these cowards sneak up from behind to seize her.  When it comes time to fund their unfunded pension liabilities, we must ask, "Why?"  We want to reward those who elected to advance a police state?

Pope Calls For prayer and Fasting for Syria

USA Bishops have decided to go quiet in the face of U S A aggression around the world, for reasons known only to themselves.  Happily the Pope can talk over their heads to faithful Catholics, indeed to all people of good will.

There are so many conflicts in this world which cause me great suffering and worry, but in these days my heart is deeply wounded in particular by what is happening in Syria and anguished by the dramatic developments which are looming. I appeal strongly for peace, an appeal which arises from the deep within me. How much suffering, how much devastation, how much pain has the use of arms carried in its wake in that martyred country, especially among civilians and the unarmed! 

And specifically,

To this end, brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative. On 7 September, in Saint Peter’s Square, here, from 19:00 until 24:00, we will gather in prayer and in a spirit of penance, invoking God’s great gift of peace upon the beloved nation of Syria and upon each situation of conflict and violence around the world.
