Can Conscientious Objectors Kill?

Conscientious objection is exactly that, a conscientious objection.  Informed by revelation "Thou Shalt Not Kill" one forms a conscience and then judges if and when killing is allowable.

The commandment is Thou Shalt Not Kill.

Not, thou usually shalt not kill.  Or sometimes thou shalt not kill.  Nor kill unless ordered to do so.  the law is Thou Shalt Not Kill.

So are we supposed to sit back as people attack us and kill us?

The God that gave us the command to not kill also gave us instinct.  Faced with life and death, we may intially act contrary to our conscience.  We may be operating on a plane that has nothing to do with conscience.

For example:

After rescuing his daughter, he inflicted "inflicted several blows to the man's head and neck area," the police document reported, before calling 911 off his mobile phone.
He could be heard shouting at the emergency dispatcher that he did not know the address of the barn and was audibly distressed. He pleaded with the ambulance to hurry, saying: "Come on! This guy is going to die on me!"
The father was never arrested, but Flores' death was initially investigated as a homicide.

The bible actually includes a provision for sanctuary cities for those who under the old law "eye for an eye" can escape punishment of such killings.

In hot pursuit he dealt with his child's attacker.  After lashing out, he regretted his lethal blows.  Between the "invincibly ignorant" and instinct, there is the necessary and sufficient shedding of guilty blood to keep us all safe.  Conscientious objection is not utopian dream.  It is a minimum in Christian witness.

Truth Commissions In Action

I do not care for ideas that have no precedence, that have never worked.  Ideas that are in play right now are even better as a source of inspiration.  The idea I have been flogging, truth commissions, in which criminals are offered immunity for complete disclosure, is actually in place right now, and works.

For example, a typical top level federal bureaucrat, who engages in criminal activity, is being thrown under the bus by her bosses.  So she in turn is asking for immunity, if she testifies.
IRS scandal figure Lois Lerner is negotiating through her lawyers with Rep. Darrell Issa’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about possibly gaining immunity to testify again in the committee’s investigative hearings.
Read more:
Never mind we are paying her salary, so she ought no

1.  Commit criminal acts

2. Hide the truth...

But the fact is she does, so we need truth commissions.  Let's welcome these instances, and open them wide ...  if you have committed a crime, then you can escape punishment if you come clean.

There is the problem of the community to which you must return after you are acquitted, but then that is your problem.

Shoot 'Em Up!

A few years back I listened to a comedian of some African heritage talking about how whenever he hears a story about a mass shooting he could rest assured the shooter was not black.  I do not recall the whole routine or the name of the comedian, but it was interesting and funny, and true.  My thought at the time si the people behind the experiments which lead to these shootings happen to be profoundly racist as a group, and prefer not to experiment on people of African heritage when it comes to psychological manipulation.  They are happy to experiment with physical manipulation, like the Tuskegee experiments, which introduced to the world unwilling human subjects to experiments, but not psychological.

But now comes a shooter of some African heritage.  So, have they now included people of African heritage in the experiments?

How come there have been no people for African heritage before?  How come the government demands medical records be super secret, even though no one asked for this?

When I hear of one of these regularly scheduled mass shootings, the first thing I listen for is the kill ratio.  In this case 12 dead, 8 wounded...  I think military.  Only a trained shooter can get that high od a ratio.

Why is it so many people who have been trained to kill and then get medical help end up killing a lot of people?

At any time will we ever look at the medicine?  Nooooo... that is super secret...  Since no one ever went to jail of Tuskegee, we will forever have these medical experiments...

Time for truth commissions...

No Kidding!

“I don’t think that Mr. Putin has the same values that we do,” Obama said in response to Putin’s controversial op-ed.
And thank God for that!  Somebody has to believe in "just war."  Watching USA politicians you'd think they understood "just war" as "only war."

This comes to mind of having read George Weigel, who as a cheerleader for the theocon attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan, distorted Aquinas's teaching which nearly eliminated the possibility of a just war to sounding like the response toe very international crisis was just (only) war.

Read his work, especially in his First Things essays, if you can stomach it.

Anarchy In Action

The USA has a long list of fairly unique examples of where the people rely on individuals to enforce laws against wrongdoing.  In USA this legal function is called qui tam.  Private citizens prosecute private companies for crimes against the people.

We have an FDA that is supposed to keep the drug companies honest, but take a look at who actually gets the job done:  private individuals.

In anarchy, who is the cop?  You are.  Here we have the private individual prosecuting wrongdoing.

Jerald Represents Hong Kong!

Hong Kong has first rate aikido, which I learned to my delight for the first time practicing while there on business circa 1978.  Hong Kong has very low tax rates, in fact most people pay no taxes whatsoever, so the city-state has fantastic funds to spread around.

One thing the lavish funds upon is sports, and they take send their best to represent Hong Kong worldwide.  Here is a young black belt, Jerald Tai, with whom I've had the pleasure of practicing with a couple of times on recent visits, in classes taught by a now-rokudan, with whom I practiced with back in the 1970s.  He will be representing Hong Kong at the World Combat Games in St. Petersburg.

If you ever get to Hong Kong, bring your gi, they have practice somewhere there seven days a week.

When Warships Gather...

Bad things happen -

On 3 July 1988, at the end of the Iran–Iraq War, the aircraft serving the flight, an Airbus A300B2-203, was shot down by SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles fired by the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes as it flew over the Strait of Hormuz. The aircraft, which had been flying in Iranian airspace over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf on its usual flight path, was destroyed. All 290 on board, including 66 children and 16 crew, perished.[1] Ranking seventh among the deadliest disasters in aviation history, the incident retains the highest death toll of any aviation incident in the Indian Ocean and the highest death toll of any incident involving an Airbus A300 anywhere in the world.[2] TheVincennes had entered Iranian territorial waters after one of its helicopters drew warning fire from Iranian speedboats operating within Iranian territorial limits.[3]

Of course the Captain was awarded medals for his service.

A Day of Prayer and Fasting For Peace in Syria

The Pope calls for prayer and fasting for peace in Syria, and the American Bishops translate that into "write your congressman":
Cardinal Dolan and leaders of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops followed the Pope’s lead and wrote to every member of Congress today urging them to vote against military intervention in Syria. Yesterday the USCCB also wrote to President Obama, reminding him that the Pope and Middle Eastern Bishops “have made it clear that a military attack will be counterproductive, will exacerbate an already deadly situation, and will have unintended negative consequences.” Dolan also asked Catholics to urge their representatives in Washington to vote against a military strike.
Hey, fellas... don't forget the primary message, that the pope called for prayer and fasting.  Remember that?

How Martin Luther King Ended The American War in Vietnam

I was reading an argument by a vet who was there for the 1968 Tet offensive fighting alongside soldiers and under officers of some African heritage.   They overcome the Tet offensive.  A few months later Martin Luther King was assassinated, for having criticized the American War exactly one year earlier, on 4 Apr 1967.

This soldier's observation was after King was assassinated, the soldiers of some African heritage lost the will to fight for USA, and ultimately that turned the tide, where USA lost that war.  So for those who say "politicians lost that war" should look to the politicians who assassinated Dr. King.

But curious that...  killing King to keep the war going, ended it for the war profiteers.  King ended the war by taking a bullet for the Vietnamese.  He may not have made it to the promised land, but surely by his death he made it to Heaven.

Anti-War Vet Gets Dealt With After Protest

Protest is over, resting alone in the shade of the tree, now the hyenas swarm on a lone veteran.  Notice how these cowards sneak up from behind to seize her.  When it comes time to fund their unfunded pension liabilities, we must ask, "Why?"  We want to reward those who elected to advance a police state?

Pope Calls For prayer and Fasting for Syria

USA Bishops have decided to go quiet in the face of U S A aggression around the world, for reasons known only to themselves.  Happily the Pope can talk over their heads to faithful Catholics, indeed to all people of good will.
There are so many conflicts in this world which cause me great suffering and worry, but in these days my heart is deeply wounded in particular by what is happening in Syria and anguished by the dramatic developments which are looming. I appeal strongly for peace, an appeal which arises from the deep within me. How much suffering, how much devastation, how much pain has the use of arms carried in its wake in that martyred country, especially among civilians and the unarmed!
And specifically,
To this end, brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative. On 7 September, in Saint Peter’s Square, here, from 19:00 until 24:00, we will gather in prayer and in a spirit of penance, invoking God’s great gift of peace upon the beloved nation of Syria and upon each situation of conflict and violence around the world.
It's a date... put it on your calendar and invite your preacher-man to join in.
