States Vs Kingdoms

Of all the historical acts of infamy, the Holocaust gets the overwhelming press.  With that, one might think that an observation might have been made: where Jews depended on "the State" for safety, they were deported to camps and the deaths.  Where they depended on Kings, they survived.  And it did not matter if the Kingdom was allied with the Nazis, they survived.

Let's look at two.  The Nazis overran Denmark, but their King did not flee, and virtually all of the Jews in Denmark survived the war.  The few who were rounded up managed to survive the camps.  Bulgaria allied itself with the Nazis, but the King, Czar Boris III, simply refused Nazi demands that the Jews be transported away.

In Holland, the Queen left and the Jews died.  All of the other states, which had no monarch, the Jews died.  Even in the UK, when they abandoned the Channel Islands to the Nazis, 100% of the Jews were transported to their deaths.  (OK, there were on three Jews, but it was UK territory and they did get 100% of the Jews.)

Get a map and a history book.  If you depend on the state, you are sunk.  If you depend on a king, you have a chance.  The read 1 Samuel 8 (and then 1 Samuel 12 for emphasis) and see while God does not even want us to have a King, at least he tolerates that.  But the State. No.

A King takes his subjects personally.  A state may be made up of people, but it can never care personally.  Keep that in mind if you ever decide to depend on a State.

When Pretty Gals Get Smashed By Cops

How many women of some African heritage have had their faces smashed in and never another word about it?    Here is the problem: now that it is happening to pretty white women, it makes the news.

(Please note, none of the other officers present reported this crime.  All police go quiet when another cop commits a crime, for the simple reason that police work is about the fantastic pay for part time work, plus the enormous pension.  Officer safety first.)

That the USA criminal justice system keeps the bad guys safe from society is a theme I hit regularly.  What happens when the system goes too far and introduces chaos among the people?

We get anarchy (in the good and proper sense).

Parallel Auto Events

A woman with a baby in a car gets scared, bends some fenders, is executed by police, is considered a criminal, and the police are considered heroes, and get standing ovation in Congress.

Man gets scared, bends some fenders, hurts someone, is beaten by people including police, and considered a victim, and police are arrested.

Must be confusing to be a cop today.

Gun Control: Disarm Police

Criminals study police response times and crazies head for "gun free zones" to do their crimes.  This is the other side of the coin where people believe the police will serve and protect them.  What we get is a certain personality among police officers.

This should be studied more, but comes a researcher:

It appears that a person is three times safer with a concealed carry permit holder than they are with a police officer.

This does not surprise me, but it should be verified.  So what if it is true?  Then disarm police officers.  Have them serve and protect without weapons.  Like in the UK.  The murder rate will not go down, but  population that is drawn to police work will change.  And those more inclined to murder will not become police officers.  Because of different kinds of people becoming police, there would be less murder by police.

Well, then who confronts the bank robber and the crazy.  Either you, or a private guard you hire, just as it is in most situations where security is important.

When the bad guys cannot plot out police response times, and the crazies have no idea who will bust a cap in their head, because of just a few concealed carry citizens, we are all safer.

If we begin gun control, start with the police.

Poverty Draft

As is universally accepted, the people who came up with the "all volunteer army" knew exactly what they were doing.  No longer would the privileged be at risk in a draft, now there would be a poverty draft in which the poor would sign up as the path of least resistance out of their circumstances.  And welfare queens like Rush Limbaugh whose empire is built on state monopoly of radio can applaud these who are about to die, for their service.  Doggone right, they are human sacrifice so that Rush might be happily rotund.

Under an all volunteer army, these people may volunteer to put on the uniform, but they did not volunteer for the oppression that made the military their best option.

In the military, we are denied the good of their creativity, what they would do if they were free.  So the task at hand is reach a polity of maximum freedom.  Tolstoy is a good start.
